Talk about finger flinging. If youve been wanting to learn how to throw and toss cards any which way, the Art of Card Throwing DVD, by Rick Smith Jr., offers clear explanations and instructions. Your tosses may come nowhere near Smiths Guiness World Record of 216 feet 4 inches, but with this DVD, youll be adequately throwing cards and performing other flashy flourishes.
As the title implies, the bulk of the DVD offers techniques on throwing cards for speed, distance and accuracy. Here, Smith briefly presents various throwing techniques, and focuses on his own, which forms the foundation of the many stunts explained on the DVD.
Many of the stunts, which include slicing vegetables and toppling a pyramid of soda cans with flying cards, will probably be beyond the persistence of average students. On the other hand, most, using the techniques in the video, should be throwing cards a good distance in no time. And be prepared for some sore arms and shoulders.
Spins, Flicks and Shooting
Smith also teaches numerous card tossing flourishes and stunts. These include: flicking and catching behind the back; flicking and catching in the center of the deck; flicking cards from the top and center of the deck; rapid fire flicking; thumb shooting; finger shooting; overhand shooting; fire flicking; back flicks; flick productions; card kicking; boomeranging cards; pop-up card productions and more. Its a comprehensive collection of very flashy moves.Production values are good, although the video was obviously shot in a home and not in a studio. If youve always wanted to learn to throw cards, Art of Card Throwing DVD can definitely teach you how.
