Messing Around

The season also features segments where Angel is simply having fun. The most memorable is when he dresses like a pregnant woman and appears to birth some “babies” in public. Also, in his “Salute to the Military” episode, Angel marches in a platoon with a drill sergeant criticizing his every move.

Extras are few. Angel performs commentary on two episodes. Of course, there are no secrets that are revealed, but he discusses where and how segments were filmed and offers background on his consultants. In the extras, there’s a section that presents the tricks that Angel taught in certain episodes. There are also outtakes and conversations with Penn & Teller, Jeff McBride and Todd Robbins.

Great Work

Criss Angel continues to produce excellent magic for television. Some effects are as you would see them live. Others do benefit from camera angles and editing. I’m alright with this, after all, this is television magic. And we do live in times where recorded performances are constantly scrutinized on the internet. This doesn’t make Angel any less of a magician.

“Criss Angel - Mindfreak - The Complete Season Two” offers a lot of entertainment for a little over twenty bucks. It’s worth the investment.
