Traveling
Based on a Jay Sankey routine that transposes coins and a finger ring, Monty Walks Again has the magician borrowing a finger ring from a spectator and showing four coins in a brass (Okito-Boston style) box. The ring is threaded on a shoelace and held in the magicians hand. When the box is open its shown to hold the finger ring, and when the magician opens the hand with the shoelace, hes holding the four coins. The Okito work is straightforward, but the standard ring vanish with the cord involves some palming that adds a challenge. Laymens eyes will pop with this one.
As the name implies, Ambivalent Travelers is a travelers routine where four pieces of playing cards end-up in four different pockets in the magicians coat. Interestingly, Stone has spectators draw pictures on their card and not sign them, which is more interesting and lends to the misdirection. Stones strong procedure has him far ahead of spectators before they even suspect anything is going on.
Stone offers thorough explanations and leaves little for DVD viewers to question. Another plus, this DVD allows us to watch Stones engaging and leisurely style. He takes his time to setup up a plot or theme, which is refreshingly different from the rapid style of most performers. And Stones magic is thoughtful, insightful and effective. If any of these effects sound like one that you would to add to your repertoire, this DVD is well worth the investment.
