Trick Review: No Chance by Spelmann and Nardi

About.com Rating fourhalf out of Five

By Wayne Kawamoto, About.com

A powerful mentalist tool that leaves no outcome to luck, “No Chance” offers a set of gimmicked dice that work with a variety of effects. The dice also come with an indepth DVD that explains some of the many routines that you can perform with the dice.

Russian Roulette

Peter Nardi & Marc Spelmann offer good Russian Roulette and Bank Night routines. The Russian Roulette routine here is a daring one that uses six inverted polystyrene cups that lie in a row. A spectator rolls the three dice, chooses a number that appears and then crushes the corresponding numbered cup.

When one cup is left, it’s shown to have a nail under it that would stab the hand of the spectator. Nardi & Spelmann not only explain a dangerous routine, they risk the spectator’s hand. As you would expect, Nardi & Spelmann include the requisite warnings about performing such an effect. There is always an element of danger so tread carefully.

For the Money

For those who don’t want to live on the edge, Nardi & Spelmann offer several money themed, “bank note” routines where spectators have an opportunity to win money that’s residing in a numbered envelope. Or the money may be stuffed into a briefcase and spectators try to pick the card with the correct combination to open the case and get at its contents.

The dice can’t withstand a careful examination. But in use, they appear to be normal.

The DVD features lots of thorough explanations and useful advice. After watching the hour plus DVD, you’ll know everything that you need to work with the dice. With “Decisions,” you’ll find a world of strong possibilities.
