If youve ever seen or performed Shinkos Classic Arm Twist, you know the amazing reactions that the effect gets from spectators. David Blaine used it in his first TV special and David Copperfield showcased it on the Tonight Shoe. Now, magician Joe Russell presents a new version that is just as easy to perform, if not easier, and takes the effect in a new direction.
As the ads state, Disjointed gives you a freakish talent to twist your arm 360 degrees around with bone crunching sound. You kneel down and place your hand on the ground and then twist your hand completely around. And beyond twisting your hand using a method that resembles the classic way, you appear to break your elbow at the joint, dislocate your shoulder, twist your arm and shoulder 360 degrees and ultimately snap your bones back into place.
A New Twist
Also, as the ads state, the routine may be performed by anyone-you dont need to be double-jointed or ultra-flexible; you can perform the effect at any time with no preparation; theres no misdirection or switches; you can roll-up your sleeves and perform the effect and theres no pain.
I was able to work this one up and performed it several times in front of spectators at a bar that I regularly perform at. I got down on the floor with my rolled-up sleeves and went to work. The effect got some great reactions.
A Great Turnaround
As mentioned earlier, you dont need to be athletic or ultra-flexible to perform "Disjointed." Im a middle-aged guy in reasonable shape who was able to learn the routine in an afternoon. I didnt perform with the sound effects, but I recommend that you do. The DVD teaches how to add these.
If the effect intrigues you, I recommend that you watch the video on the Ellusionist site and evaluate it for yourself. Again, the effect is easy to learn and perform and there are no angle problems. If you think Disjointed can work for you, you can quickly learn it and add it to your act.
