Card Sharking
Each of the 52 cheating methods includes a thoughtful discussion of the technique and signs to look for. Because I do card magic, I was particularly interested in the sections on cheating moves that included: negating a cut; mucking; card stacking; and bottom, second and center dealing, as well as the physical alterations of the cards that include crimping, shorting and more.Beyond the moves and card alterations that many magicians are familiar with, the book also talks about how players cheat by ganging up on a lone player and explains lots of other tactics that are simply fascinating. I also enjoyed learning the terminology of the cheats: "subway dealing," "shade" and more.
Not Too "Legit" so Quit
For 13 bucks, "52 Ways" is an insightful, well written and thoroughly entertaining read. If you play poker in places with a definite tinge of danger or foreboding, Kronzek clearly outlines the warning signs that will tell you to simply walk away.We began this review with a song and will end with one as well. As the old Kenny Rogers song implies, if you encounter the tactics that Kronzek explains, forget about holding and folding, simply walk away or even run.
