Stage Character
Allen's stage persona is superior to that of most magicians who perform for kids, but he incorporates just enough overacting and posturing to be on the edge of irritating to adults. The younger kids, says six and under, love him, and I think this is where Allen's routines, at least the one presented on this DVD, have the greatest appeal and success.Given a choice, while I admire Dave Allen's work, I prefer Chris Capehart's kid show as published on his recent DVD (click here to read our review).
While Capehart is a bit assertive with kids, he offers an entertaining and funny show that is always classy, and there's none of the broad silliness or over-posturing of so many of today's irritating kid shows.
One last thought, at $40, I think this one is priced a bit too high.
