DVD Review: Color Changing Knives (World's Greatest Magic)

About.com Rating four out of Five

By Wayne Kawamoto, About.com

I have a feeling that most magicians have played around with color-changing knives at one point or another.

I know that I have in the past considered getting a set to try out in walk-around gigs, but for some reason, have never gotten around to purchasing and working with them.

Color My World

Color changing knives are gimmicked knives that with the right moves, change colors. The trick is visual and easy for spectators to follow. This DVD compiles color changing knife routines from famous magicians such as Bill Malone, Johnny Thompson, René Lavand, Steve Draun and Daryl.

Among the many World’s Greatest Magic DVDs that I have reviewed, this is one of the best. By viewing this DVD, you get to see a variety of routines by accomplished pros, learn variations on the moves and see the range of knives that are available.

This DVD provides a useful overview and introduction to the topic that can help you decide what type of knives to purchase and build your routine.

One note, some of the knife sets may be difficult to find. For example, I searched for the set that Daryl uses in his fantastic routine and could not find it from any internet suppliers. If anyone out there knows where to find these, would you please let us know?

I know that I'm inspired and there may soon be a new color changing knife in my strolling set.
