Most of the latter sessions teach tricks and are not necessarily sock drawer items. An excellent trick for kids uses a change bag and offers lots of fun interaction. My favorite trick was one where a large hole seemingly moves from one card to another (not based on Closes Pothole).
There was a card location with a mousetrap and a couple of card stabs with a knife. A great session near the end talks about how to age plastic props so that they look like antique objects. For this, Gallagher recommends lots of products that may be purchased at craft stores.
Lots to Like
There is lots to like about Miracles from the Sock Drawer. If youre like me, you may initially think that you have little interest in taking stock tricks from magic sets and trying to perform miracles with them. But Gallagher offers a solid lesson in showing what you can do with simple props-whats old becomes new-and theres lots of first rate tricks that stand on their own. Furthermore, theres advice and insight here that will make you think and can apply to your other magic.
The quality of the video is only adequate and the audio is sufficient. This was a low budget video, but with the wealth of material on this DVD, its not a problem. In fact, with all this material, Miracles from the Sock Drawer is practically a bargain. Dont dismiss this one.
