In Japanese, Kanpai means "cheers." And Ginjiro brings a glass and liquid production that is worth cheering about. The holdout provides the means to effectively produce a glass with liquid that you can immediate drink or pour out-the glass is not gimmicked.

This kit comes with the glass and everything that you need. If you’ve always wanted to make a glass of wine appear out of seemingly nowhere, Kanpai is worth a look.

The Kit

The production kit consists of a glass, a rubber stopper and an elastic hold out that clips inside of your jacket. The stopper and hold out are very high quality and should last a long time. The weak link may be the safety pin that allows you attach the holdout to your jacket. Based on my experiences with safety pins and holdouts, I’m sure that this pin will bend in short order, but it is easily replaced.

The glass, stopper and holdout are fairly straight forward to setup. A plus, the safety pin assembly is designed to detach from the holdout so you can easily fill the glass and setup the stopper and holdout, and then attach the entire assembly to the safety pin that remains connected to your jacket.

Instant Wine

The glass is an optimum size so it looks like a sizable glass but doesn’t make your jacket look bulky. And with a reach and pull, you can quickly separate the glass from its holdout in a single motion, which also removes the stopper, and be left holding a glass that’s filled with liquid.

The trick comes with a small DVD that played just fine in my DVD player and offered adequate instructions on setting up the glass and explanations of various production methods and misdirection. Unfortunately, there were a few approaches that were not explained but simply demonstrated. If you like, you can also reach into your jacket and simply pull out the filled glass, which will get a laugh in itself.

Something odd, the DVD tells you to immediately cut-down a necessary gimmick. After spending $75 on this product, I’m not too inclined to open the box and cut the gimmick right away. I’d rather try it out as is and then make small adjustments as I need to.

Cheers (Kanpai)

Kanpai offers a first rate means to produce a glass of wine or other liquid after a short routine, or you can produce the glass on its own with a bit of cover. If your stand-up act can use a glass production, this one works well.
