Notes From the Castle: "Flavor Flav"

By Wayne Kawamoto, About.com

If you were at the Magic Castle last week, you would have seen rap artist and noted member of “Public Enemy,” “Flavor Flav,” who was filming a segment for his series, “Flavor of Love.” Now in its second season, the rap artist appears to still be searching for his soul mate. The show was filming a segment where he brought his date to Hollywood’s Magic Castle.

I witnessed the filming in the Palace of Mystery theater that dedicated the first portion of the show to the rap artist. Flavor Flav was resplendent in a white tux and white top hat, complete with a cane and a giant, glittery “pocket watch” hanging from his neck that was the size of a small pizza.

Losing One’s Head
Magician Chase Curtis introduced Flavor Flav, who came up on stage. Curtis performed several tricks, most notably, needle through balloon, which Flavor Flav tried to duplicate with no success. A guillotine was brought out and Flavor Flav then took his date’s head and proceeded to pass the blade through her neck.

While the Magic Castle is an excellent place to impress a date, I’m not sure if placing a date's neck in a guillotine is a good way to create an impression. But heck, what do I know?
