Review: How to Make a PK Sharpie
If you want to make an object appear to move with the power of your mind, in this case a Sharpie pen, this DVD teaches you how to make your own gimmicked pen.

A Mind Moving Experience

The "PK Sharpie " is associated with Banachek. With such a gimmicked pen, you can lay it on the edge of a table or on top of a wine glass. And as you stand away, the marker begins to wobble and then falls. The version that you make here uses no threads and at no time are you connected to the pen in any way.

The DVD offers excellent and thorough instructions. There are some electronic components that you will have to find and purchase, and you’ll also need basic tools, in particular, soldering equipment.

Oddly, the host, James L. Clark, doesn't actually show the PK Sharpie in action or teach you how to use it. This would have been helpful to gauge the Sharpie's application and usefulness, and see how it fares against the commercially available product.

So here's the bottom line. You can purchase a "PK Sharpie" off the shelf and ready to go for about $45. You'll pay $24 for this DVD, and still have to purchase some materials. On the plus side, it's great to have control over building your own "PK Sharpies" and, as a result, be able to work on them and fix them when you need to.

On the downside, if you’re only going to build a single prop, it's far easier to go out and buy the finished product. Particularly if don't already own the necessary tools.

If you're determined to "do it yourself " and build your own PK Sharpie, this DVD will definitely show you how.

MSRP: (US) $24
