Review: Ghost Ink by Andrew Mayne

Here's another clever trick from Andrew Mayne. This one lets you make a tattoo or small drawing immediately and mysteriously appear on your arm. The technique is convincing and not difficult to perform.

Tattoo You

Unlike a similar effect, "Tattoo Joe," which allows you to make a tattoo appear by using your hand (click here for my review), with Ghost Ink, you mostly use cover that's provided by a playing or business card, or other small prop.

You can make Ghost Ink tattoos vanish, but Mayne suggests that you simply wipe them off with a napkin. "Tattoo Joe" also allows you to produce larger tattoos that span your forearm and relies on a completely different method.

The gimmick itself is small and may be carried in your wallet or inside a deck of cards. You will have to purchase extra materials to make gimmicks, which you should be able to find locally at stores. Additional cost is probably what you spend on this DVD.

Inked

There are lots of potential effects that you can perform with the concept. On the DVD, Mayne teaches a variety of card revelations; transfer effects where a design, logo or barcode transfers from a playing card, dollar bill, soda can or business card to your arm.

He shows how to appear to "burn" a tattoo design into your arm with a lighter. I particularly liked the mentalism effects where revelations appear on your arm.

With Ghost Ink, Andrew Mayne offers an intriguing effect that is different and makes a mark.
