Review: Disappearing Deck by Ron Wilson

About.com Rating 4.5

By Wayne Kawamoto, About.com

An excellent closer to a card routine, you put a deck of cards back into a card box and then rip the card box to pieces. The deck has mysteriously vanished. You can perform this one standing or sitting and won't need any special clothing.
The routine relies on a cleverly gimmicked card box. Because you rip up the boxes, they can't be used again.

The kit comes with 12 gimmicked card boxes and you can order these in blue or red Bicycle. Instructions show you how to make your own gimmicked boxes, which isn't difficult. You'll need three card boxes to make a single gimmicked card box.

Vanishing the deck of cards is not difficult and requires no complicated moves, but there is some important misdirection. The instructions explain both sit down and stand-up methods. There's also a "Deck Thru Table" routine by Tony Clark that allows you to make a deck pass through the table.

This one would work great with an opener where you produce the cards ala David Regal's Sudden Deck. And after the card routine, you make the cards mysteriously vanish.
