Scan Scam
You tell spectators that fingerprints have long been a reliable method for identifying a person and are used to cash checks, open doors, and protect data on cell phones and personal computers. A spectator selects a card and returns it to the deck. If you like, you can have the spectator press his thumb onto the card's index to make an impression on his fingerprint. You bring out a small electronic device and invite the spectator to place a thumb onto the screen. The device "scans" the thumb and then on its display, shows a thumbprint. In a few seconds, as the device appears to make computations, the fingerprint gradually fades until it's in the pattern of the spectator's selected card.
The Technical Stuff

ScanTastic is self-contained and comes ready to work. The device has a built-in battery that you recharge by connecting to any computers USB port (the necessary cable is included). Under normal use, the device should run for up to four hours per charge.
The Imprint
The trick is not hard to learn and perform. You provide your own deck of cards and use your favorite basic technique to set up the trick. The only real question is whether spectators will believe that this electronic device is indeed some type of scanner, or recognize it for what it truly is. Another consideration, some spectators may not want you to "scan" their fingerprints for fear that you may do something with them.
In any event, the revelation of the selected card should be a hit. But at $87.50, I find the trick to be rather pricey.
