THe "Impossible" Plot
You show a red backed prediction card that is folded in quarters and tucked under a rubber band that is wrapped around a blue card case. This red "prediction" card stays in full view throughout the effect. A spectator freely selects a card from the blue backed deck and signs it, and then returns it to the deck. You explain that your prediction, which is the folded red card, is the mate to the selected blue card. You remove the folded red-backed prediction card from underneath the rubber band and hand it to the spectator. The spectator unfolds the prediction card and discovers that it's their signed selection.
The Work
If you have fundamental card skills and can control a card and secretly fold it, you'll be able to perform this one. With some minor handling, everything can be examined. Reset on this one is fairly fast, although you'll want to do this out of site of spectators. The instructions are well written and feature helpful pictures. The trick comes with a specially constructed Bicycle card case (available in red or blue) and a special gimmick. My only reservation is that the gimmicked card box will wear out with use. Although you will probably be able to rip apart the old gimmicked box and make your own with little trouble.
I like this one a lot, in fact, I think that it's as good if not stronger than Jay Sankey's " Paper Clipped," which offers a similar plot. With " Prophecy," Peter Eggink offers another great " card to impossible location" routine that works in the real world and is very commercial.
