A coin is dropped inside of the box and spectators are invited to try and open the box to retrieve the coin. In the end, you cover the box with a handkerchief and quickly remove the coin. The box may be examined again by spectators.
The box is well made and the mechanism is quite deceptive. If someone actually figures out how to open the box, which will be a rarity, he or she is extremely lucky or has good deductive reasoning skills.
While this is a popular beginner’s trick, it's far more of a puzzle than a magic trick. Spectators know that you are able to somehow open the box and don’t think that you can magically pass the coin through its walls. For this reason, this one is not high on my list of tricks that I recommend to youngsters.
