1. Place the envelope and the deck of cards on the table.
2. Ask the spectator to think of a number between 5 and 15. As an example, assume that the spectator thinks of the number 12.
3. Demonstrate to the spectator how to count down in the deck by counting to twelve and dealing a card onto the table for each number. When you are finished counting, simply pick up all of the cards that you have dealt and place them back onto the top of the deck. While the spectator thinks you are simply showing them what to do, you're actually reversing the order of the top 12 cards so that the two of clubs becomes the twelfth card in the deck.
4. Ask the spectator to count down to the twelfth card by dealing as you did, counting each card. When he reaches 12, he turns over the card, which will be the two of clubs.
5. Point out the envelope that has been in full view the entire time and ask the spectator to open it. When he reads the note, it will state the card that he "randomly" selected.
