Easy Trick: Sawing a Lady in Half

By Wayne Kawamoto, About.com

1 of 8

Alright, this is not a version of the big stage illusion where a magician appears to saw a lady in half. But you can make this version out of an envelope and paper and it won’t cost you thousands of dollars. And you won’t even need a brave volunteer.

Effect: The magician inserts a paper doll into a paper tube. The spectators can see the doll’s head and feet sticking out of both ends of the tube. The magician cuts the tube in half. When the doll is removed, it’s fully intact.

Materials: 1) paper, 2) marking pen, 3) an envelope and 3) scissors.

Secret: We’ll explain the secret as we show you how to prepare the props.
