Again, you’ll want to experiment with the right amount of salt to use. Apply too little salt and the deck won’t cleanly cut. Apply too much salt, and spectator’s will notice a mound of salt sitting on top card and wonder why. Also, you’ll want to experiment and practice to determine the right amount of force to apply to cleanly break the deck.
My hypothesis is that the grains of salt act as miniature ball bearings. When you tap on the side, the salt crystals effectively roll and provide a path of least resistance.
