Before you begin the trick, get some salt on the tip of your first finger. You don’t need a lot, but you’ll want at least a few grains of salt. It’s best to experiment before you ever perform the trick to determine the amount that works best for you. If necessary, you can lightly wet your fingers to make the salt stick.
Hand the spectator the deck of cards and ask them to mix them. After mixing the cards, tell the spectator to place the deck face down on a table or flat surface. Ask the spectator to cut to a card near the middle and look at it and show others while you turn away.
