Routine

By , About.com Guide

Definition: A routine is a trick that's been dressed with a presentation that can include patter or music. Routines often consist of more than one trick strung together that include: 1) several tricks with the same prop; 2) a sequence of tricks where props are added and taken away to perform variations on a central theme but with the original starting prop, or 3) several tricks with unrelated props that are linked by theme.

Several routines put together become an act.

Examples: The magician went into his magic routine.
