Angle - Definition

By , About.com Guide

Definition: In magic, "angle" refers to the angle at which your audience or spectators are viewing your tricks. Since every trick has a secret, tricks are often discussed in terms of their angles. Usually as "good" or "bad."

As an example, a trick such as the necklace, is considered to have "good" or "wide" angles because spectators can be surrounding you and they won't be able to see the secret to the trick.

On the other hand, a trick such as the rising card has definite or limited angles because this trick must be viewed completely from the front, otherwise spectators to the sides and back of you will able see the secret.

Examples: When performing this trick, you have to watch your angles.
