3. The magician grabs the ends of the ropes in both hands and pulls, and the three different-length ropes turn into three ropes of equal length. At this point, the magician may end the trick or return the ropes to their prior state: long, medium and short.

When the magician returns the ropes to their long, medium and short states, the spectators may once again examine the ropes.

The trick is easy to perform and you can buy it from any magic dealer for a few dollars.
