According to a recent release, Brett Daniels was presented with the Merlin Award for Entertainer of The Year 2009 and is the only magician to receive the award for two consecutive years. In 2008, Daniels received the Merlin Award for Entertainer of The Year in Las Vegas.

I have always been impressed by Daniel’s performances on television. He’s creative, as you can see from his video, and I think he’s underrated in the world of magic.

Brett Daniels currently performs in the "Masters of Magic" show at The Palace Theater in Myrtle Beach, SC. that has extended his run thru September 2009.

The release says that the Merlin statuette is the equivalent of the Oscar for film and is presented to entertainers who have achieved the highest level in their craft on an international scale. Voting members begin with approximately one hundred names and narrow the list down to a select few. The criteria includes talent, showmanship, originality, skills and ability to entertain under any conditions.

Previous winners of the Merlin Award include Penn and Teller, David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Harry Blackstone, Doug Henning, and Criss Angel.
