"Women in Boxes" Premieres
Film Honors Magic's Unsung Heroes
"Women in Boxes" premiered at the Cinevegas Film Festival on Thursday, June 19.
The film is the first to cover the story of the devoted magic assistant who distorts her body into impossible positions while the magician cuts her in pieces, stabs her incessantly, sets her on fire, crushes her, dismembers her, restores her to life with a dramatic "taa daa" and takes a bow to wild applause.
The brainchild of writer, Blaire Baron Larsen who married into the family of the Magic Castle founders, the film has been under development for three years and features rare archival footage of magic.
Joining Miss Baron Larsen with co-directors Harry Pallenberg and Phil Noyes on the red carpet was Teller (a member of the cast who actually speaks aloud in the film); Siegfred (Siegfred & Roy), and many of the great magic women of today and generations past including: Pam Thomson (Tomsoni & Co), Deanna Shimada, Luna Shimada, Coral Reveen, Jan Jones, Stacy Jones, Monique Dimmare, Irene Larsen and Cathy Daniel.
CINEVEGAS is taking place at the Palms Casino Resort and Brenden Theatres in Las Vegas.
An encore screening of the film will occur on Saturday, June 21st at 3:00 pm.
