According to a recent article, Fr Terence O'Connell criticized a parish for allowing magicians to participate in a recent fund raiser, and, as a result, was himself criticized by others. The talent show style event was held to raise funds to send youth on pilgrimages. "I couldn't support any kind of magic, especially if its [SIC] running concurrently with an event that is predominantly Christian," says O'Connell in the story. O’Connell was also quoted as saying that the parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, Fr Damian Ryan, should question his priesthood for supporting any kind of magic. On the other hand, it’s hard to argue with success. According to the article, the fund raiser brought in some €5,000. How’s that for some magic? Please click here to read the story.
