Mark Wilson Chastises Criss Angel

Tuesday January 22, 2008
Long before David Copperfield, Doug Henning and David Blaine, Mark Wilson pioneered the performance of magic on television. He proved to the networks and sponsors that magic could work on television and amaze audiences. Throughout his career, Wilson always stressed in his shows that there was no video editing used to accomplish his illusions.

In a story about an upcoming magic swap meet that's put on by Hocus-Pocus in Fresno, California, Wilson expresses his disappointment with some of the current magicians seen on television and particularly, Criss Angel.

"He violates all the rules," Wilson says in the story. "Speaking as a professional magician, I will tell you that you cannot levitate from the top of one building to another without using television tricks. My fear is that using these kind of tricks will make it like before I began and people will start thinking that true magic can't work on television."
