DVD Review: Blank by Kenton Knepper
It's rare to find a trick that a pro would be interested in performing but is easy enough for a beginner.
What Kenton Knepper has done in "Blank" is take a simple and well known card trick that reveals a particular card or set of cards, and created routines that allow the rest of the deck to be shown blank at the end. As a result, the routines have solid initial revelations, where most card tricks would end, and considerable kickers that are downright devastating.
I've been using this one at my restaurant gigs and it's very strong. The trick is not difficult to learn and perform and there's no sleight of hand. And you're completely clean at the end.
At a strolling event that I performed at tonight, the attendees were trickling in and arriving late and I wanted to save my main strolling material for when the house was packed. "Blank," Dan Tong's "Jack" and several other effects served me well to entertain the smaller crowds until there were more people and I could bring out my standard material.
