Business Ideas That Work Magic

Saturday April 21, 2007
According to a recent press release, Andy Cohen's business book, "Follow the Other Hand: A Remarkable Fable That Will Energize Your Business, Profits and Life," applies the principles of magic to achieve success in the business world.

Cohen brings a magician's perspective and throughout his book, connects the principles of magic and business through the concepts of assumption and misdirection. He describes "misdirection," a magic trade term, as the action of making one's audience follow certain assumptions, which lead them away from the secret to a trick. According to Cohen, businesses often follow their assumptions and end up misdirecting themselves.

"Follow the Other Hand" is a novel that tells the story of a struggling businessman who seeks the help of a magician to turn around his fortunes. The book breaks down five lessons and gives away secrets to several well-known magic tricks.

"Using magic is an experimental way of reminding people of the power of assumptions and how it can be used to screw things up or make you a success," Cohen says in the release. "Challenging your assumptions daily results in the latter, which leads you to solutions first perceived as impossible."

Cohen is a motivational and educational speaker and a magician who serves on the board of the Society of American Magicians. For more information, you can click here.
