Coin Roll Record

Tuesday March 20, 2007
How fast can you roll a coin across your knuckles?

August Meyer of Maquoketa, Iowa recently set a record for the Guinness Book of World Records. Meyer, 22, rolled a half-dollar across his fingers 51 times in a minute to break the previous record, 45 times in a minute. According to Meyer, his personal best is 57 times a minute.

Just for fun, I timed my ability to roll a half dollar and did 29 in a minute with a few bobbles. 51 times in a minute is flying.

Thank you for posting my story. I was certainly surprised when a magician buddy told me that you had featured me. Just some side info, I started doing a coin roll in September of 2005. The nice thing about this flourish is you can practice it at anytime. It is true that I was dissapointed with only 51, as this is my average speed. My best is 57, which I have managed twice. I was not able to get more than 51 because I kept dropping the coin when I tried to go faster. I would also like to point out that I am NOT a Guinness Record Holder YET. Even though I did it in front of witnesses, the video still needs to be sent in to Guinness for review and approval. I plan to do that as soon as I have the paperwork ready. Thank you again for the feature!
