Magic Realities

Thursday January 11, 2007
Magician Paul Daniels is participating in a reality show. No, he is not hosting a "battle of the magicians," a natural for him, but starring in a wife swapping show. According to a recent article, Daniels will be gaining a well known TV host as a new, temporary wife, while Daniel's spouse, Debby McGee, will join the TV host's fiancé.

In a true reality television show, Las Vegas illusionist Nathan Burton has apparently landed a new show where magic pros will coach celebrities so they can create and compete with their own magic acts. The television show is to be called "Magic with the Stars."

I despise these shows because they imply that anyone with a magic secret can become a professional magician. Granted, celebrities who are, or once were, tops in their field are talented individuals. But I don’t expect a show of this type to be good for magic.

Last, here’s a spoof on a David Blaine stunt gone wrong with some political overtones.

I agree “magic with the Stars” or anything vaguely similar? only hurts magic as an art! Why not music or panting with the stars instead? Maybe its time for magic to go underground for a while?

Oops, I ment painting not panting with the stars, or how about woodworking, Crafts, remodeling, Cooking or gardening with the stars instead.
