Call to Save Magic Museum

Tuesday December 12, 2006
According to a recent release, the Society of American Magicians (SAM) is looking for benefactors to raise funds to save valuable, historic magic artifacts that are on display at the SAM Hall of Fame and Magic Museum in Hollywood, California.

In December 2004, an electrical transformer located in a nearby underground vault owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (“LADWP”) malfunctioned and caused a fire, which resulted in smoke that was tainted by hazardous substances. Unfortunately, the museum was contaminated by smoke and curators have no access to the museum to remove any artifacts, memorabilia or records.

The LADWP has not accepted responsibility for the contamination and the cost to clean the Museum. As a result, the SAM is preparing to file suit to recover damages and needs to quickly raise funds to litigate the LAWDP. SAM also needs additional funds to clean the museum and its magical artifacts, records and films.

The organization says that donations large and small are greatly appreciated. The SAM Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) corporation and donations are tax deducible to the extent allowed by law. Donations may be made payable to SAM Hall of Fame and Magic Museum, Inc. and sent to:
