Bill Tarr: 1925-2006

Wednesday November 15, 2006
Best known as a sculptor, Bill Tarr was a magician who wrote some key books for beginning magicians including: "Now You See It, Now You Don't: Lessons in Sleight of Hand." and "101 Easy-to-Do Magic Tricks." Tarr was also the creator of several magic tricks. His "Now You See It, Now You Don’t" books played a key role in my early magic education.

Among the general public, Tarr is best remembered for his geometric memorial to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. that resides in New York City and his 5,900-pound bronze casting "Gates of Hell," also known as the "Gates of the Six Million," that resides at The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. You can read his obituary here.
