DVD Review: Enigmatic Volume 2-Alexander de Cova

Thursday October 19, 2006
As in his first volume, Alexander de Cova offers a mix of routines involving varied objects for close-up and stand-up, many of which are prediction effects. As with the routines on his other DVDs, de Cova’s methods are direct and effective.

I particularly liked his “Porous Plastic,” an effect where three coins penetrate through a ziplock baggie and his card transposition that used a card box. I might be working these up and performing them in the near future. I also liked the mentalism effect called “Bean Counter” that relies on a diabolical and disarming method. This one fried me. I’m not sure I’ll ever perform this one, but I got a huge kick out of the secret.
