On Thursday, the building, at 123 E. State St., was destroyed in a fire. Built in 1897, the building was home to a popular opera house that occupied its second and third floors. According to this article, the legendary Harry Blackstone Sr., who called Colon, Michigan home until 1949, used to perform at the opera house.
Colon is known as the “Magic Capital of the World” and is the location for the annual Abbott's Magic Get-Together.
