One of magic’s most enduring legends is that of Dai Vernon’s search for the center deal-the mythic ability to deal cards from the center of a deck. In Karl Johnson’s excellent book, “The Magician and the Cardsharp,” Johnson documents Vernon's quest to find the man who was able to perform the holy grail of card tricks.
