It's No Illusion: Magicians Can Make Big Bucks

Tuesday August 22, 2006
While many people consider magicians small-time players who eke out their livings at children’s birthday parties, this perception, according to a recent article, is an illusion. “Magicians at the top can earn as much as or more than physicians and attorneys,” says magician Aaron Radatz in the article.

“That’s enough to dispel the notion of magic as being only about “the rabbit, top hat and tails look, which is old fashioned,” adds Radatz. “It’s very much an art form that has evolved with the times. To prosper in the art, however, requires a good business head, either with or without the top hat.”

If magicians ever make big bucks, they’re only a few rich and famous ones. What I agree with is that one can make this as a sideline business on top of what he’s doing.

I agree that there are only a few magicians who are rich and famous. But there are a lot of us who make a living performing magic fulltime. -Wayne
