World's Oldest Chicken Starred in Magic Shows
Thursday August 10, 2006
Matilda, the world's oldest chicken, died of heart failure at the age of 16. Keith and Donna Barton, or "Mort The Mystifying and Donna," recently participated in a "broken perch" ceremony for Matilda, which was held at a Birmingham meeting of the Southeastern Association of Magicians. Matilda was purchased at a poultry exhibit in 1990 for $10. Her opening act was to magically appear from beneath the lid of a closed pan where only an egg yolk had been before. According to this article, Matilda also appeared on the Tonight Show.

i have a really ole chicken.Shes a leghorn hen.Shes 13
We have a bantom chicken that has been in the family for longer than 18 years. She looked like she was going to die a few years ago but now has a second wind. She is totally blind, yellowish brownish skin possibly liver failure. Anyway she is happily still walking around the yard, eats well and has always been friendly with humans. We dont have the heart to put her down as she appears to have a strong will to keep living. Do you think she may be the oldest around.
