Criss Angel Appears on CBS' The Early Show

Saturday July 8, 2006
Impressing Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith with a card prediction and some fork bending, Criss Angel also talked about the success of his A&E show, "Criss Angel, Mindfreak." "I pinch myself. It's amazing," Angel said in the interview. "I'm just an artist that uses many different paint brushes...whether it's mentalism, hypnosis, escapes, illusion, magic, music, performance art, to try to blur the line between reality and illusion and create an experience that hopefully is engaging and connects to people." You can watch the interview and Angel’s performance on the CBS site. Angel also talks about the possibility of a third season.

When I first saw MindFreak I was blown away and thought he was the best magician ever, but after talking to a friend, he told me that he’s somewhat disliked in certain magician communities because he fakes things.

Now, I’m not talking about his picking Ice Tea (or whatever that rapper in all those family movies is)’s music CD because that’s just obvious research beforehand.

What I’m talking about is the floating lightbulb that’s turned on, levitating across buildings, and walking down a building.

Were these just camera tricks? Were the people paid off to say they’d never seen him, or to lie about not seeing anything suspicious?
