High Tech Magic: "Turtle Talk with Crush"

Thursday June 8, 2006
I just came back from a day at Disney's California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, California. I've often thought about how technology affects magic and, vice versa, how magic influences technology, but I've just witnessed an amazing illusion in "Turtle Talk with Crush." This interactive activity is offered in the Animation Building in the park's Hollywood area and it's a fantastic magic trick that combines puppetry, acting and technology. It's made me think about how we as magicians need to embrace new ideas and technologies and incorporate them into our performances.

Interesting article! As Arthur C. Clarke said: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Or as Dr. David West put it, “If a technology is not magical it is insufficiently advanced.”

I completely agree with those quotes Craig, and I couldn’t have said it better myself.

I have been a circus performer and a magician for 52years.It all looks good on camera but noone in the real public eye knows you in the street for real.
