Houdini Lives?

Sunday February 12, 2006
This article profiles Houdini, a Charleston, South Carolina-based magician. While the article offers a good description of his kids’ educational show, the part that amazed me was the fact that he calls himself “Houdini.” If he’s good, more power to him.

I did not know that a name was something that was indigenous to one person or race. And we live in a country where we have the freedom to call ourselves whatever we wish. I am sure you have never seen Houdini perform because if you did you would not be so facetious or sarcastic. I think you are affronted that a BLACK man dares to call himself by a WHITE magician’s name. We also live in a time where racism should long be dead. Have a blessed day.
